Use of Dunlora Facilities
|
The Dunlora Swim and Tennis Club facilities requires that some rules be followed for the safety and security of the Dunlora members. They are listed here as a reminder to all residents wishing to make use of the facilities.
- Swim and Tennis Clubhouse
- The Clubhouse is for the exclusive use of Dunlora residents and their guests.
- Normal hours of operation:
- Sunday - Thursday: 6 AM to 10 PM
- Friday - Saturday: 6 AM to 11 PM
- Anyone 18 years old or older, who is a Dunlora resident, may have unrestricted use of the clubhouse providing they follow all relevant rules.
- A parent or parent-designated adult, who is at least 21 years of age and a member of the Dunlora Community Association, must accompany those members/guests under the age of 18 while they use the Clubhouse.
- During the hours that the swimming pool is open and available for community use, access to the Clubhouse will be governed by the Pool Rules posted on the Clubhouse bulletin board.
- Use of machines and equipment in the exercise room is at the risk of the user and the Dunlora Community Association assumes no responsibility.
- Any homeowner desiring to use the clubhouse for a group event must reserve the Clubhouse and sign an Agreement Contract in advance. Contact the Association Manager (Jim Fogleman) to reserve the desired date no earlier than 90 days prior to the event and at least 10 days before the event. If the Agreement Contract is not signed by 9 days prior to the event, cancellation will result and the date will be released for other scheduling. (Click here to view the Agreement for Use.)
- After using the clubhouse, it is expected that any trash will be removed and placed int he outdoor trash receptacles, the kitchen picked up and cleaned, if necessary, and the floors vacuumed if needed. Furniture should be returned to its proper place, windows should be closed and locked, lights turned off, and the doors locked. If any additional cleanup is required, the resident will be billed for the actual cost.
- Exercise Room
- The use of the exercise room machines and equipment is at the risk of the user. The Dunlora Community Association, Inc. assumes no responsibility.
- No one under the age of 18 may use the clubhouse and exercise room unless they are accompanied by a parent or parent-designated adult who is at least 21 years of age.
- Please see the "Swim and Tennis Clubhouse" section above for a full listing of the Swim and Tennis Clubhouse rules.
- Pool
- Pool Use Rules
- Pool Hours: Monday through Sunday, 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
- Members must register upon entering the pool area.
- Children under the age of 11 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
- Proper swimwear is required. Cut-off shorts will not be allowed in the pool.
- No running is allowed on the pool deck.
- No glass containers are allowed on the pool deck.
- Hanging or sitting on lane lines is not permitted.
- A child using a flotation device such as water wings, or a float vest, must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- Items such as noodles, nerf balls, and koosh balls will be permitted at the discretion of the lifeguards on duty.
- In the event of thunder, the pool will be cleared for twenty (20) minutes following the last thunder event. In the event of lightning, the pool deck will be cleared for a minimum of thirty (30) munutes.
- All children in the tot pool must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Children over the age of 5 are not permitted in the tot pool.
- Diving Board Use Rules
- One (1) diver on the board at a time.
- Divers must go straight off the board in a forward direction, no back dives.
- Divers must swim to ladders on the side of the pool.
- While the diving board is open, there is no swimming in the roped area.
- Only one (1) bounce before a dive; no multiple bouncing.
- Safety Policy
The following actions will be taken concerning pool safety violations:
- The lifeguard will whistle to alert the individual of a safety rules violation.
- For a second violation, the individual will be asked to take a time-out. The time-out area is near one of the lifeguard chairs.
- For a third violation, the individual will be asked to leave the pool area for the remainder of the day and a parent will be called.
- Should an individual continue to disobey the pool safety rules, he/she may lose pool privileges for an extended period of time.
- Tennis Courts
- The courts can be used only for tennis; biking, skating, and other activities are not permitteded because they are damaging to the court surface.
- The courts are for use of Dunlora residents and their guests only.
- Everyone on the courts should wear suitable tennis shoes, again to maintain the quality of the surface.
- The backboard can be used at any time when the adjoining court is not in use. Priority should be given to court play.
- When done playing, please make sure the gate is locked and the lights are off.
- Soccer Field
- Player safety is our priority.
- The soccer field should be used only for authorized activity: soccer, lacrosse and sandlot baseball games.
- A caution those planning to move the soccer goals: If the goals need to be moved, they should be moved by adults and returned to their proper place, including pounding the anchors back into the ground. Children can be severely injured or killed as a result of climbing on or trying to move the goals.
- The soccer field is not a road, driver training course, or driver obstacle course. The tire ruts that are left behind can later cause ankle and knee injuries to the youth and adults that play on the field. Residents, and their children, should pass the word that the soccer field is private property, and abuse and misuse of the property cannot be tolerated.
- The Soccer Organization of Charlottesville-Albemarle (SOCA) inclement policy applies for using the soccer field. The soccer field cannot be used if SOCA has canceled all outside activities on public fields due to wet playing conditions. SOCA cancels outside activities for two reasons, player safety and preservation of the playing field surface.
- Residents that walk their pets on or near the soccer field are asked to continue carrying a bag and cleaning up their pet waste. The extra effort is much appreciated.
- Those wanting to reserve the soccer field for any activity should call Shelley or Greg Robbins at 434-973-8550. Callers should leave a detailed message if they are not available. Requests can also be sent to email address: robbinsga@aol.com.
(Note: A Registration Form authorizing use of the soccer field is being prepared. The Form would be used to eliminate confusion if two parties want to use the soccer field at the same time, and only one of the parties has actually reserved the field. It will be posted in the Forms page when it is completed.)
